Latest Dividend Increases: 3 Stocks Income Investors Should Watch $MDLZ $PVL $MET

Dividend investors are always looking for companies and securities that can generate growing income. This week, three notable dividend increases stand out: Mondelez International (MDLZ), MetLife Series A (MET-PA), and Permianville Royalty Trust (PVL).

Each offers a different approach to dividend income.

1. Mondelez International (MDLZ)

Mondelez raised its quarterly dividend from $0.50 to $0.52 per share, an increase of 4%.

With its portfolio of major consumer brands, MDLZ remains one of the more traditional dividend growth stocks on this list. For long-term investors, consistent dividend increases can be an important part of building a growing passive-income portfolio.

2. MetLife Series A (MET-PA)

MetLife's Floating Rate Preferred Series A increased its quarterly payout to approximately $0.3147 per share.

With a yield of around 6.2%, MET-PA may attract investors looking for higher current income. However, preferred stocks have different characteristics from common stocks, and the floating-rate structure means the payout can change.

3. Permianville Royalty Trust (PVL)

PVL delivered the biggest percentage increase.

Its monthly distribution increased from $0.015 to $0.027 per unit, representing an impressive 80% increase.

That headline yield may look attractive, but investors should remember that royalty-trust distributions can fluctuate significantly depending on oil and natural-gas production and commodity prices.

What Dividend Investors Should Take Away

These three securities highlight why investors shouldn't look at dividend yield alone.

MDLZ is the clearest traditional dividend-growth story. MET-PA offers higher current income through a preferred-stock structure, while PVL provides variable monthly distributions with considerably more uncertainty.

For a long-term dividend portfolio, sustainable cash flow, balance-sheet strength and the ability to maintain or grow distributions are often more important than simply finding the stock with the highest yield.

Which of these dividend stocks would you consider for your portfolio?
