7 Top Dividend Growth And Share Buyback Stocks Of The Week

As you might have noticed, my blog covers dividend growth stocks and companies with fresh stock buyback announcements.

It's not a real investment strategy but both are activities for investors.

You can find each week a list of all dividend growth stocks and share buyback companies on this site. It's the only source who compiles this on the internet.

Within the past week, only eight companies raised their dividend payments and additional nine stocks announced a stock buyback program.

Both are shareholder-friendly activities which could be helpful for normal investors like me and you.
Back to dividend growth: No large-cap stock was in the list of the latest dividend grower. The biggest fish in the pool was the insurer American Financial Group who raised dividends by 13.64 percent.

7 of my favorite dividend growth stocks and share buyback announcements of the past week are...

  1. Great article, Tom! Somehow Cracker Barrel and OXY have been under my radar. When I added them to my spreadsheet and applied my own weights to them, they come out near the top of the 41 stocks in my table.

OZRK is also interesting, despite it's modest 1.6% dividend. It's grown the dividend by 333% since 2010 and is still paying out just 38% of earnings as dividends, so there's room to keep growing it.

It's been a long time since I've added a single stock to my table that made it into the upper half of my stocks, but today you helped me find 3.

    1. Thank you Howard for reading my article and writing a comment. Yes, its good to hear that I could help you by introducing some stocks. Would you tell me which stocks you added to your table?

      Delete
    2. Sure, Tom. I added CBRL, OXY, and OZRK. I now have 40 stocks in my table, all of which have gone at least 10 years without a dividend decrease, and 35 of which pay at least a 3% dividend.

I rank (and weight) each stock according to dividend (50%), dividend growth (20%), dividends/earnings (25%), and analysts' ratings (5%). With those weights, OXY is #8, CRBL is #11, and OZRK is #27*.

In case you're curious, here is my Top 10, in order:

      Stock Div% Price
      ARLP 5.9% $42
      BHP 4.5% $56
      T 5.4% $34
      MAT 4.9% $31
      ORI 5.2% $14
      COP 4.2% $70
      AGU 3.6% $84
      OXY 3.1% $92
      VZ 4.3% $49
      KRFT 3.8% $56
      RDS/A 5.3% $70

I own all of those except ARLP, MAT, OXY, and RDS/A. You might wonder why I don't own ARLP, my #1 rated dividend stock. That's because I have qualms about owning a coal mining company. For similar reasons, I don't even list tobacco companies, even though a few would rank highly by my measures.

I plan to buy MAT, OXY, and possibly ARLP in the next two weeks.

*OZRK had been in the top half of my table until I adjusted the weighting so that Dividends counted for 50% instead of 40%.

    3. Great List Howard. I have a stronger focus on consumer and non cyclic stocks. AT&T is also a great cash source for income investors but T has big debt and a very large goodwill. If they write down a little piece of them, they make no profit a few years.
Thank you for your comment and reading. Best Tom.
