Yesterday, eleven companies announced a dividend hike and one stock, Walter Industries, cut dividends from 12.5 cents per share to 1 cent. The biggest dividend hike came from BBCN Bancorp who raised its cash distributions by 50 percent. The current yield of BBCN is at 1.95 percent.

Two big names are on the list of the latest dividend growth companies: Wendy's and Norfolk Southern.

The railroad company Norfolk Southern hiked its dividends by 4 percent and yields at 2.79 percent. The operating margin of the transportation stock is still very high at 27.90 percent. The company benefits from the current shale gas boom.

The fast food chain Wendy's announced a 25 percent dividend hike. That's a great increase if you look at the fundamentals of the company but the earnings outlook is good. Earnings are expected to grow by 14.33 percent for the next five years. The dividend yield of Wendy's amounts to 2.25 percent.

15 Stocks From The S&P 500 With Single P/E Ratios

Stocks from the S&P 500 with P/E’s below 10 originally published at long-term-investments.blogspot.com. It’s too easy to say that stocks with a low price-to-earnings ratio are cheap but the figure tells you a lot about the valuation of a company on the first view.

Stocks with a low valuation are also rare. For instance, the popular S&P 500 index has only 28 members with a P/E below 10. Around 80 percent of them, in total 23, pay dividends. Current P/E’s are great but it’s always good to look at the forward P/E because it uses the future earnings of the company.

Only 16 companies from the S&P 500 have both, a current P/E and forward P/E of less than 10. If you buy those stocks you purchase them for a net income yield of 10 percent. That’s a good value in my view if the business works robust and grows with a pace of 5 to 10 percent yearly. You can find a full list of the 15 dividend paying stocks with a single P/E below. Insurer and oil & gas refining & marketing companies are mostly represented on the screen.

Ex-Dividend Stocks: Best Dividend Paying Shares On July 26, 2013

The best yielding and biggest ex-dividend stocks researched by ”long-term-investments.blogspot.com”. Dividend Investors should have a quiet overview of stocks with upcoming ex dividend dates.

The ex dividend date is the final date on which the new stock buyer couldn’t receive the next dividend. If you like to receive the dividend, you need to buy the stock before the ex dividend date. I made a little screen of the best yielding stocks with a higher capitalization that have their ex date on the next trading day.

A full list of all stocks with payment dates can be found here: Ex-Dividend Stocks July 26, 2013. In total, 2 stocks go ex dividend - of which none yield more than 3 percent. The average yield amounts to 1.62%.

20 Cheap Large Cap Dividend Challengers With Double-Digit Earnings Growth

Large capitalized Dividend Challengers with strong growth at a low valuation originally published at long-term-investments.blogspot.com

If you have read my blog for a longer time, you would have noticed that I often write about dividend growth stocks and dividends in general. One dividend growth category is the Dividend Challengers category. Those stocks have raised their dividend cash payments to shareholders over a period of more than 5 consecutive years but less than 10 years in a row.

Because of the rising market valuation, I wanted to know which of the Dividend Challengers are still fair or even cheap priced compared to its growth forecasts by analysts.

I selected all stocks from the dividend growth category with a market cap over $10 billion and a low forward P/E below 15. In addition, the expected earnings per share growth should be above 5 percent yearly. Exactly 20 companies fulfilled these criteria.

14 of the results have a current buy or better rating and five stocks yielding over the three percent mark.

Williams Partners (WPZ) Hiked Dividends By 1.77% And 7 Others Followed

Yesterday was a good day in terms of dividend growth. Eight companies raised their dividend payments. The biggest stock was the specialty chemical company Williams Partners. WPZ announced a 1.76 percent dividend hike and yields at 6.67 percent. The company has a rosy future. Analysts are expecting earnings per share to grow by at least 12 percent over the next five years. Only the high debt to equity ratio of 4.20 gives investors a bad taste.

Seven of eight companies with dividend growth on the last trading day have a market capitalization of more than USD 1 billion. Oil and gas companies are the most represented stocks.

The highest yielding stock is the drilling and explorations company Legacy Reserves with a 8.22 percent dividend yield. LGCY raised its quarterly dividends by 0.87 percent, yesterday.
