The Best Consumer Defensive Stocks Now!

Consumer defensive stocks can add some stability to a portfolio, as they tend to hold up relatively well during downturns while also participating in rising markets.

The sector's relatively sleepy return over the past year led me to wonder if there are any high-quality bargains there. To find competitively advantaged stocks in the sector, I screened all the stocks from the sector and included those with attractive equity story, valuation, and growth figures.

Below are some highlights from our research reports of the companies.

20 Value Income Stocks With Dividend Yields Over 10 Year Treasury Yield

I found a great list of stocks that combine value investing criteria with growth. The list contains a number of attractive looking stocks with current yields above the bond yield.

It's a classical leveraged view. If you borrow money and put it into investments with a yield over your capital cost, you will make money. Dividends are not stable.

You need a huge spread yield. However, take a look at the attached list. I believe there are a few good names on it.

Here is the table....

24 Stocks With Higher Dividend Payments (Announced Within The Past Week)

24 stocks announced a growing dividend in the past week. The biggest names were Illinois Tool Works, Expedia, Hershey and Broadridge Financial Solutions.

Big is beautiful but to pay a high price for growth or more safety is also irrational. In terms of cheapness, measured by forward P/E's are Avnet, State National and Ares Management the top picks.

Asset managers become the latest stocks on my cheap dividend plays but the industry also faces a strong headwind of out flooding money. How it will end in the mid-term is a question of believe. I do think that AUM will growth in the future but there is still a high sensibility to financial crisis and depressions.

However, let's face the facts. These are the latest dividend growers. Attached is also a list of the 20 biggest stocks with dividend growth in the past week. Which do you like?

These are the latest dividend growers....

5 Consistently Growing, Profitable, Well-capitalized Stocks With Ever-Increasing Dividend Yields

Sectors with consistent dividends – most notably, utilities – are treated like bonds and tend to do well in low-rate environments. That’s because yields move in the opposite direction of price. But when rates rise, prices fall.

What I'm looking for are companies that are consistently growing, consistently profitable, well-capitalized, as well as with an ever-increasing dividend yield.

In additon, it's good to look for companies that have consistency like consumer staple companied.

Here are some of the stocks with ever growing sales in the past.

21 Dividend Growers Go Ex-Dividend Next Week

Dividends are important for income investors. The ex-dividend date is an important date related to the dividend payment. If you buy the stock before the ex-date, you will receive the next dividend.

Today I like to show you the best dividend growers who have their ex-dividend date within the next week. A full list can be found here. I publish there on a weekly basis the dates and yield figures. If you want to know who pays the highest dividend yield, check out this site: 20 Highest Yielding Ex-Dividend Stocks Of The Upcoming Week June 29 – July 05, 2015.

Utilities and REITs are the highest yielding stocks on the list but cheap by forward P/E are only Duke, Crane and Ryder. Those are also high-beta stocks, except Duke.

But Duke has a debt to equity ratio of 1.07. Which stock do you favor?

5 Profitably Growing Dividend Stocks

Looking for stocks that are real profit-growth machines? There’s not many.

There are just five companies in the Standard & Poor’s 500, including financial Wells Fargo (WFC), food company Hershey (HSY) and retailer Home Depot (HD) that have boosted their profit each of the past six calendar years and that pay a market-beating 2% or higher annual dividend.

Attached is a list of the greatest companies on the market with phenomenal earnigns growth. Which do you like?

Warren Buffett's Targets Part I: Potential White Elephants Of The Guru Investor

Warren Buffett is one of the most trusted and popular investors on the market. He made from a dozen dollars over USD 58 billion. On this blog, I also cover the activities of the guru investor and publish his trades and thoughts.

There are several speculations on the market what Warren Buffett buys next. He has around USD 15 billion in cash, a number that is growing monthly. Some of Warren Buffett's criteria are:

- Market Capitalization from $15 Billion to $40 Billion
- Capital Expenditures / Net Fixed Assets > 10%
- 5-Year Average Growth in ROIC in Highest 50%
- P/E Ratio < Average Company Value in Home Market
- Return on Common Equity > 10%
- Excludes Banks, Brokerages, Asset Managers, Technology, Biotechnology Companies

By screening the market with the above mentioned criteria, there are popping out a few interesting stocks. Some are often discussed like General Mills or Hershey, W.W. Grainger or FedEx.

Big takeovers make sense for Warren Buffett, also when they are higher valuated. More important are the stable cash flows. The strategy is to buy stocks that have big brands and produce products. They buy commodities and create wonderful things for people all over the world.
