33 Safe High-Yield S&P 500 Stocks

Dividend-paying stocks that have gotten left behind in the rally now feature higher dividend yields, which may be attractive to investors.

But buyer beware: Many yields are high because some investors fear the stocks. But if you do extra research on specific companies and reach a certain comfort level, you may be looking at some bargains.

Long-time income investors are constantly facing the problem of how to replace income lost when older and higher-yielding bonds and callable preferred stocks are redeemed. And more than eight years into the bull market, while interest rates are still historically low, the problem keeps getting worse.

We have featured the S&P High-Yield Dividend Aristocrats, which are companies included in the S&P 1500 Composite Index that have raised dividends for at least 20 consecutive years.

But many have yields that aren’t attractive.

We also put together a list of dividend stocks culled with rather stringent criteria for free cash flow and sales growth. This time around, we are taking a far less stringent approach.

A total of 33 companies among the S&P 1500 met these criteria:

• Dividend yields of at least 5%.
• No cuts of regular dividends over the past five years
• A free cash flow yield, for the past 12 months, exceeding the current dividend yield.

These are the results...

20 High-Yield Stocks With Low Beta Ratios

The market’s had its ups and downs this year, but there is sure to be more volatility ahead of us in 2017. There is a lot of speculation over the health of the global economy. Will China keep falling behind growth expectations? Will the high market valuation cause a short-term sell off?

As long as the market has big questions with no concrete answers, there is sure to be more volatility ahead of us. When the global environment is uncertain, it is wise to reduce your market exposure by picking up some low beta stocks. Stocks with a low beta tend to see a lower magnitude of price changes compared to the broader market.

The secret sauce behind high performance is low volatility. Stock portfolios built with low beta stocks tend to outperform high-beta growth stocks. And you sleep at night without having to worry about big swings in the market.

It is foolish to assume that taking on more risk will produce higher returns. We all want the sure thing in business with no risk, but this is nearly impossible to find. But it possible to find low-beta stocks with steadily rising dividends or high dividends. I've done some research in order to find the best high-yield dividend stocks with low beta ratios.

These 20 stocks have high yields at low beta ratios...

20 High Yielding Oversold And Underestimated Dividend Paying Stocks

I get questions from retired and income investors asking about oversold dividend stocks.

In the current market, a lot of dividends stocks — particularly the more well-known ones — are hitting new 52-week highs on a regular basis.

These investors want to know if buying at all-time or 52-week highs is a mistake.

The answer is usually, “it depends.” If you have a long-term horizon of, say, ten years or more, it doesn’t really matter.

The other answer, however, is that if the investor is looking for solid dividend stocks, there’s no reason to confine oneself to Johnson & Johnson (JNJ).

There are other dividend payers out there, and I prefer to look for stock that are 10% or more off their 52-week highs.

I personally use the technical indicator of the RSI in order to identify really oversold dividend paying stocks.

It suggests that, in an environment where everyone is looking for yield, that the stock has sold off for reasons that aren’t critical to its ongoing operations. That creates a buying opportunity.

Here are 20 higher capitalzied dividend stocks with yields over 4% looking oversold and undervalued:

The Highest Yielding And Most Promising Healthcare Reits

When it comes to the history of wealth, there is always one sector that needs to be mention, and that is real estate. The cash flow that real estate investing brings in from business operations can be great, especially for dividend investors.

Purchasing a rental property in your local neighborhood is pretty easy to do because the capital required is not a great amount. However, when it comes to investing in the healthcare real estate sector, it is much more difficult–that is, unless you have millions of dollars in your bank account.

There are a lot of healthcare Reits on the market with solid yields which have been grown over years. I will show you some of the highest yielding and most promising healthcare Reits with the attached list.

Here are the highest yielding and most promising healthcare Reits...

10 Top Yielding And Cheap Healthcare REITs For Income Seeking Investors

Real estate investment trusts, or REITs, can give investors exposure to real estate without the challenges and risks of buying property.

The senior population (65+) is expected to grow 80% between 2010 and 2030, and 85+ cohort by over 60%, increasing patient acuity.

It is estimated that ~70% of Americans who reach age 65 will require some form of long-term care for an average of 3 years.

Healthcare policy is the primary driver in which patients are being treated in low cost settings.

Here is a great overview of property-owning REITs that can give you excellent dividends and lots of growth potential, listed in no particular order:

15 REITs With FFO Yields Over Dividend Yield

FFO is meant to provide the best measurement of a REIT’s cash flow available for dividend payments.

If you are thinking about a REIT purchase, you need to consider the company’s ability to maintain or raise its dividend, because a dividend cut could hurt the stock price terribly, and income is your main objective.

There are 92 REITs in the S&P 1500 Composite Index and some of them still have room to grow dividend payments. Here are the 15 with the highest dividend yields that also have “headroom” to raise dividends:

20 High-Yield Stocks With Extreme Low Beta Ratios (Half Of The Market)

Everyone has a different appetite for risk. Some people like to chase those high growth companies that have chances of doubling in a year or two, while others would likely never sleep at night while three out of 10 of its investments destroy the market while the other 7 crash & burn.

If you are one of those investors that don't have the sensibility to invest in those higher risk/higher reward type of companies, that's ok, there are plenty of lower risk companies that can generate good returns over time.

One ratio to measure the risk compared to the market is the beta ratio. A ratio under one shows us that the unique stock moves less than the overall market while a ratio far above one indicates that the stock is more volatile than the market.

If you look for more stability of your portfolio, you should look at low beta stocks. Mostly, you need to give up some of your return or dividend yield due to the higher safeness. But only sometimes.

Attached you can find a couple of stocks with the lowest beta ratio on the market while paying the highest available yields in their field. I've only included stocks with a market cap of more than 2 billion.

These 15 Low Leveraged Dividend Stocks Paying Yields Over 10%

If you want to get a high dividend, not a large of 5 percent or more, I'm talking about yields far over 10% yearly, you need to take big risks.

Normally, a 10% or more yields is normally a tell-tale sign that a dividend payout is unsustainable. A stock that has a dividend yield in the double digits can be incredibly tempting to an investor. The problem with dividend stocks is that so many of those high yields are eventually cut because the businesses can't continue to support the payout.

That isn't always the case, though. Some companies have monstrously high yields that aren't at much risk of being cut. Attached I've tried to compile a few stocks with a double-digit yields that have fundamental strength to keep paying its investors.

On the market are 276 companies with a current dividend yield over 10%. Mostly high leveraged companies from the energy and real estate sector are under them.

I've put my eyes on those stocks with a market cap over 2 billion and a debt to equity under 1. Exactly 15 companies have such a good ratio.

Here are the results…

3 Potential Dividend Champions With High Yields And 10 Additional To Consider

Today I've created a small list of stocks with high dividend yields (over five percent) that are close to become a Dividend Champion in the upcoming years. Those stocks have raised dividends over more than 25 years in a row.

Dividend Growth is King

When you read my blog for a longer time, you should know that dividend growth is the key of a successful dividend investing.

In a non-performing market, dividends contribute 100 percent to the total performance or they can reduce their losses.

In my view, dividends are good enough to generate a solid cash income when the market suffers.

Over the past five years, this strategy failed because of the high intention of the Federal Reserve to reduce the unemployment via money printing. As a result, stock markets more than doubled in the most countries of the world and equities got very expensive.

Dividend yields of the best dividend paying stocks declined also by a few percentage points and investors often don't get a compensation for inflation now.

What we need are higher yielding stocks, but those are also more risky and sometimes overloaded with debt.

I've attached a list of the highest yielding potential dividend Champions. Only 13 companies with a consecutive dividend growth history of 10 to 25 years have a current dividend yield above the 5 percent ratio.
